Scaffolding surrounded the beautiful Clock Tower during the spring and summer months of  2022.  Undeterred by unprecedented temperatures of up to 40 degrees C. the workmen succeeded in bringing back the Clock tower to its former glory.

In the days before electricity a winder was employed to ensure that the clock kept to time.  It was weighted and  every week he made the tortuous journey through a hatch in the Rector’s Room and into the tower where he topped up the fish oil so that the light would illuminate the dials for townsfolk to see.
